„Pyramide von morgen“, a walk-in media artwork on Karlsruhe's Marktplatz
From 13 August to 13 September 2026, a second pyramid stands on Karlsruhe's Marktplatz, open to walk into and modelled on the size and shape of the historical landmark. The installation by Norina Quinte and Andreas Hölldorfer (ato) belongs to the exhibition „Media art is here“ by the UNESCO City of Media Arts Karlsruhe and makes a visual statement on climate change. Inside, visitors enter a desert landscape with the interactive video game „The Power of Two“ by the collective VOLNA, in which every decision changes the surroundings.

Monuments wrapped in orange in Karlsruhe: ato and Francis Karat take a stand against violence against women
For the international day of action „Orange the World“, the city of Karlsruhe, together with the artist collective Francis Karat and the artist agency ato, wraps selected fountains and monuments in orange film. The intervention „hermanas“ draws attention to violence against women in public space and points to support services via QR codes.

When the funding ran out at the end of August 2025, the installation by the collective ato stayed on Karlsruhe's Stephanplatz permanently. The cultural office and the UNESCO City of Media Arts office made it a fixture, because the lenticular images of medicinal plants and the seating had noticeably changed how the square is used. Over the summer a programme accompanied the work, among it a midsummer lounge and a performance on safety in public space.
